Round out coverage with Care, Custody or Control
Did you know that in some instances, "property damage" is excluded from Commercial General Liability coverage?
How does the exclusion work? If an insured is staining a wooden floor for his or her customer, the floor is in the insured’s care, custody or control. In this case, the insured would not be covered for loss occurring to the floor.
If the insured has added Care, Custody or Control coverage with the same scenario above and accidentally drops a different color stain in the area where the insured is working, Care, Custody or Control would provide coverage for the loss.
It is important to understand that coverage provided by Care, Custody or Control does not apply for all causes of loss. For example, if the loss was caused by the insured’s work being incorrect, Care, Custody or Control would not apply.
When adding Care, Custody or Control, what is included and excluded by the endorsement can vary based on form edition dates or insurance carrier. If you need help navigating through this coverage, contact your district sales manager.
