Teaching the importance of insurance to millennials
Ohio Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor’s “Think Again” initiative seeks to demystify the necessity and affordability of insurance by providing engaging conversation topics and resources for young adults.
Through this initiative, the Ohio Department of Insurance is raising awareness to help young adults plan for the unexpected, organize their important documents and share what they have learned with loved ones.
“Some young professionals believe they don’t need insurance because they have few assets and are in good health, but the reality is one unfortunate event could put them and their loved ones in financial hardship,” said Taylor, also director of the Ohio Department of Insurance.
This initiative also promotes the value in young adults having discussions with their parents and grandparents to be sure they have the insurance coverage they need.
The department’s “Think Again” resource kit includes:
- Life stage conversation topics
- Detailed infographic(s)
- Record keeping checklists
Although this initiative is from the Ohio Department of Insurance, the materials could be relevant for other states as well. Visit www.insurance.ohio.gov to view or download a “Think Again” resource kit or call 800-686-1526 for more information.
