Encova associates express holiday spirit through donations
Every year, Encova associates look forward to participating in holiday item drives that benefit our communities. In Columbus, we partnered with Down Syndrome Association of Central Ohio (DSACO) to collect toys for DSACO guests and their families, and our Making HerStory associate resource group hosted a drive benefiting Buckeye Ranch.
DSACO’s mission is to support families, promote community involvement and encourage a lifetime of opportunities for people with Down syndrome. At their holiday party, they hosted Santa and Mrs. Claus, who personally met with each family and child/teen/adult with Down syndrome in a sensory-friendly environment and allowed them to select a special gift. Our associates were proud to donate toys to help give joy and create cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Making HerStory hosted an item drive in support of Buckeye Ranch, an organization that provides resources, opportunities and programs for families and children in need, for the second year in a row. For this item drive, Buckeye Ranch requested a wide range of items directly benefiting the Hislop House, a 12-bed male house with an age range of 13-17 years old, including bed sheets, towels, toiletries, games, books and more. We collected enough items to fill a car three times, all going to the boys staying for an extended time.
In Charleston, West Virginia, associates collected toys in support of Toys for Tots, which will be distributed to children in need in the Charleston area. Again this year, on the last day of the drive, the Marines came to our office to help collect and organize. This annual drive has always been a major success, and this year was no different! Student athletes from West Virigina University volunteered to help us collect toys alongside the Marines.
We’re proud to partner with DSACO, Buckeye Ranch and Toys for Tots to support families in our communities this holiday season.
